URGENT UPDATE 6/10/13 Clover has had two surgeries at our regular Vet to attempt the repair of an oral fistula. This means that that there is a hole through her gum up into her jaw bone and into her sinus. This allows bacteria and therefore infection to cause discomfort and possible bone deterioration. We cannot have her surgery performed until we raise the surgery fee of $1400.

Her surgery will be done by Dr. Capron, a well known doggie Dentist and Oral Surgeon. We have scheduled the surgery in early July to allow for fund raising. IT'S SPRING AND THE CLOVER IS OUT......... Clover is a playful and energetic girl. This darling treasure was surrendered to the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She is reportedly housetrained.

Clover is in need of some dental work. She has infected gums and an oral nasal fistula which is infected and uncomfortable. She is on antibiotics but needs surgery to repair the fistula. POOR TAWNY.......... Tawny is a possibly a Sheltie/Golden/Corgi mix. Her mix is gorgeous and her coat is beautiful. Right now Tawny is suffering from a bad bladder infection which we have been treating for two weeks with antibiotics. The blood in her urine has disappeared but she still has all the other symptoms. She was x-rayed today (6/5) and found to have a large bladder stone which needs to be surgically removed (pictured in #1 photo).

BEAUTIFUL RED GIRL.......... Poppy is a small ball of fur Pomeranian. She is personable but not kissie face.

Poppy came to us with a severe cough which was diagnosed with a collapsing trachea. We x-rayed her chest and it didn't show anything. She was put on two weeks of antibiotic and a narcotic cough medicine. The cough has cleared and she no longer appears to have a collapsing trachea.

We thank our donors for their help in getting our girl better (including Marie Robinson and Malcolm Nelson). She still has luxating patellas which is very common in small dogs.

Poppy is a vocal girl who gets excited and a bit yappy. She stops once she gets attention but if no one is home during the day an apartment setting might not work. Also young children would be overwhelming.

ZELDA SMILES...... Zelda is a special girl, possibly a Lab mix. She is so full of sweetness and love and will make some loving adopter a wonderful companion. A very calm, quiet and loving girl.

Zelda has had a few seizures which are controlled with a small dosage of Phenobarbital twice a day. The monthly cost is only $12.

UPDATE 6/4/13: Well sorry it has been so long letting you know how I am doing. My surgery for my sub-luxating patella went well and I am pretty much on the mend. My Foster Mom says I probably will never be a mountain climbing dog, but walks are fine with me. Although, I will tell you car rides is what I live for!!

I went for an evaluation regarding my issue with socializing with other dogs and got good news. I just never properly learned how to interact when I meet new dogs and it is scary for me. We are trying to decide now what the best course of action is at this point. I am fine once I get to know the other animals around me it is just the first few days that are tough for me. I know I can learn to be as sociable to my doggy friends as I am to my humans.

I love humans so much I want to spend every minute with them and love when new people come to meet me. I am truly a people kind of guy. My foster Mom tells me all the time she wishes her forever dogs was as well behaved and as smart as I am. She would keep me forever if she could. I know my forever home will come one day, but until then she loves me and I am doing just fine here with my 3 doggy mates and a cat.

CUPCAKE IS A SWEETIE!! She is a terrier mix, heavy on the mix. Cupcake has been waiting for her family since her rescue when she was four months old.

She is an adorable dog who is submissive with people, but may be overwhelming for small children. Cupcake selects her dog friends carefully and seems to prefer male dogs. She will need a home without small pets and with a 6' fence to keep her safe and happy. She is crate trained.

WILD AND CRAZY GUY.... My name is Bentley, I am a wild and crazy blue Heeler mix, by that I mean I love to run and play but my manners are a little rough. Nothing a training class wouldn't fix, my adopter and I could learn together! FUN! I do well with other dogs and love people. ASPEN IS A LAP DOG....... Aspen is a very sweet mixed breed girl, we haven't got any idea of her mix but whatever she is she is special.

Aspen was released to a shelter by her owner because they no longer wanted her in their home. We find this so sad as she is loving and would prefer laps to most anything.

SWIPER....... Swiper is approx 5 yrs old, fully vetted neutered male BC/Cattle Dog mix (our best guess). He got his name from the vet tech who saved his life when he "sideswiped" her car in a storm while she was stopped at a red light. He was running away from 2 big dogs chasing him. Swiper takes a little while to trust people but he is very friendly & affectionate to those he does. He is EXTREMELY good with other dogs of all sizes. He is very respectful of the senior & small dogs & plays very well with dogs his size. He still needs some work on housetraining & needs some one on one training with an experienced owner but responds very well & quickly to that kind of attention. He is very athletic & would make a great walking/hiking partner. He always has a happy face & just loves life. He’s about 40# of lean muscle (17" at shoulder). No cats. He has not been around children, but we believe that he would be fine with older children. He is crate trained.

THE MANY LOOKS OF SNOWMAN ......... Snowy is a handsome poodle mix or possibly a labradoodle who likes to play with his doggie friends, toys and chews.

We think that he may have been abused in his past, because when he came to us he was very snappy and nervous. A lot of time has been spent on desensitizing him and he has come a really long way. We are still not comfortable placing him into a home with children.

** COURTESY POSTING ** ATHENA... Athena is a 3 year old female who came to us from the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, and we are ever-so-grateful that they contacted us about her. Athena is a dream dog. She is great with other dogs, loves children, and is completely house and crate trained.

She only has two little quirks - she does not like cats, and she can be fearful of men. There's not much we can do about her dislike of kitties, but we are working on teaching her that not all men are evil, and she's slowly coming around. Don't get us wrong...Athena is not aggressive toward men at all, but it's obvious that she does not know if they are trustworthy, and tends to shy away if a man approaches too quickly.

She would thrive in a home with a quiet-spoken man who understands that rushing her is not the way to her heart. Of course, a home with no men in the picture would be great, too. Athena has only been with us for a short time, but she has already worked her way into our heart, and we know you'll fall in love with her, too!

** COURTESY POSTING ** YOGI... Yogi Bear is a yorkie or silky that was abandoned in a sorry state. He was physically malnourished, neglected, and abused, and psychologically, he was a terrified mess. He cowered when any stressful situation occurred (meeting people/dogs, being approached by anyone, loud noises, etc) and submissively urinated. He had mange, his toenails curled under, he was missing large patches of hair, he was underweight, had an ear infection, and had multiple skin infections, as well as an infected tooth. After surgery for the tooth and being neutered he has recovered well from the mange and infections and is working on growing his coat out.

He is still working on socialization and confidence boosting but is coming along well in training. He is potty trained, crate trained, and learning to play with other dogs.

Yogi is current on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. Yogi will be available for adoption after May 4th.

JUNIOR....... Junior was surrendered to a shelter by his owner after his cage mate passed away. He is lonely and shy as he appears to have not been handled much, but he does not bite. Junior loves yogurt drops which are much like equivalent of children's Twinkies. He is very eager to take his treats. He has a little hammock in his bi-level cage in which he feels very comfortable.

NELSON IS A FOREVER FRIEND...... My name is Nelson, I am a very special and handsome Pomeranian! When I was rescued I was skinny, shaved to the skin, had rotten teeth which resulted in my jaw breaking. I needed surgery by a really nice doggie dentist named Dr. Capron. Lots of very kind people donated money to get me all fixed up. My coat is beautiful (full and shiny), I am a bit tubby now and I have the cutest grin!

Just when I thought I was ready for my forever home, my left knee cap started dislocating. It is very painful off and on. Many little dogs have this problem but mine needs surgery which may run as much as $1000.

GRAMMIE IS A FOREVER FRIEND... Our group has decided to keep Grammie as a "sanctuary" dog! We have worked diligently with our Vet and an Allergist to help her heal and gain comfort but she never gets totally better. We love our Grammie, she has more personality in one little paw than most dogs have in all four! The thing with Grammie is that she will have a need for continuing lifetime care for her skin. Our Vets still have not been able to clear her up completely although they have certainly been trying. She has improved greatly since coming to us. She is a loving girl and it is what she deserves!! Grammie loves laps, car rides and sleeping curled up next to someone in bed. She appears house trained if let out on a regular basis. She does get yappy but is just trying to communicate, she is full of ideas.

SWEET SENIOR GRANDMA..... Our Grammie is a Pomeranian sweetie who has had a rough few years! She was a stray in a kill shelter and was rescued on her very last day. This girl was suffering with rotten teeth, fleas, a mammary infection, a foul smelling coat and very yeasty skin. Why would anyone let an animal suffer like that?

ADOPTION PENDING / GO JD GO ..... J.D. was released to a shelter by his owner. We do not know the reasons. We believe him to be a Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen mix except he has wiry hair and his legs are not as straight. With mixes it is so hard to tell, he could be a wired hair Doxie mixed with a stockier breed. He likes to run and play. He is crate trained.

J.D is a good boy. He does well with dogs once he gets to know them, we do not know about cats. He has done well with children at our M&Gs but we are not comfortable placing our dogs into families with toddlers.
