KAHLUA.......SOME DOGS CAN'T GET A BREAK... Kahlua is a sweet, affectionate, cheerful Cocker Spaniel who, months after joining Forgotten Friends, is still suffering the results of past neglect.

When Forgotten Friends received Kahlua in November, she had been wondering the highways in Williamson County. She was covered in skin infections and matted hair.

Her hair was shaved under anesthesia and her skin infections treated. We thought she was doing well and was on her way to health, comfort and adoption. What Forgotten Friends didn't know was that Kahlua had at least 30 splinters under her skin. These splinters formed cysts that had to be surgically removed.

The cost of two surgeries has really taxed Forgotten Friends, and we need help to pay for Kahlua's antibiotics and the February surgeries. Please click on her PayPal button and help this sweetheart.

B-I-N-G-O.... LET'S PLAY!! Bingo is a very loving little guy. He really enjoys snuggling on the couch with people. Bingo is a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. He loves to chase after his ball in the backyard, and he enjoys running with the other dogs. Bingo can be nervous and needs someone that will be patient and calm with him. They will be rewarded with lots of love!

He is a smart little guy who likes a lot of attention. He'll paw at your hand when he wants some love. Bingo is walking well on a leash, but stops every now and then. He does not like when people tug on his leash, so he needs a very gentle person. Since he can be nervous and sensitive to rough handling, Bingo he would do best in a home without small children.

COOP DeVILLE !! Cooper was adopted as a puppy and kept by his new owners for about 10 months. However, when they moved they exceeded the number of allowed pets and since he was the newest addition they brought him back to our rescue group. He’s adapted very well to foster care and needs a loving forever home with at least one other dog to play with as he plays with his other foster brothers and sisters from sun up to sun down. Once they get tired, they sleep hard and start all over again.

He is a very friendly curious dog that seems to love anyone or any other dog he meets. He is completely housed trained and does a little whine and turn when he needs to go outside. He sleeps very well in a crate at night or when his foster parents go out for awhile. He goes in with one command and stays put until the door is closed and greets you very excitedly when you return home. He knows basic commands like sit and down but will need some behavioral training for no jumping and walking on the leash as well as other basic commands.

He loves to play tug of war, fetch, and enjoys a belly rub very much. He’s very good about sharing the attention, dog toys and treats with his other six pack mates in his foster home and has shown no sign of aggression in any way. In fact, they’ve made a game of stealing them from each other on a regular basis and are up for the challenge anytime and quite funny to watch. He will make someone a GREAT dog and whoever adopts this pretty boy is in for a very long wonderful, committed, loving relationship.

CUPCAKE.... was abandoned at a shelter by a man’s family after Cupcake’s loving owner had to go into a nursing home. Her two sisters have been adopted and Cupcake would really like a permanent home of her own. She is very loving, and does fine in the car. She would be fine as an only pet or with one small playmate her size. She has just recently begun to play with a 2 ˝ legged foster dog. She does cry when left to go to work but she settles down quickly. Still it is best if she go to a home where she not be left for long hours. An older couple in a quiet household would be the best match for Cupcake.

She has a great personality but it will take someone with patience to get to know her. She does not warm up to anyone one immediately. But once she bonds with you, you will have a little shadow. She chases the cats but only if they run and she never tries to harm them. Due to her tiny size, a quiet home with no children is best. She should never be left outside unsupervised. She is potty trained if you take her out regularly but she is also trained to use a wee pad. She is never snappy and has been good at meet and greet days, but she is nervous around strangers.

Don’t let her age fool you. Small dogs have longer lifespan and she can easily live another 8 to 10 years. She is a very special little girl who has a lot of love to give. She deserves someone who will love her for the rest of her life.

I WILL WRAP YOU AROUND MY PAW..... I am a beautiful blue merle Border Collie who is full of love, intelligence and energy!!! I would make some active person a great companion, I think I would like agility or flyball and some doggie school to work my brilliant brain.

Twine is a very sweet girl who loves to go for runs, play in the water and fetch the ball. She also likes to cuddle with her foster family on the couch while watching TV. She loves to ride in the car and enjoys being off leash at Turkey Creek Trail or Red Bud Isle.

She is housebroken, walks well on a leash and knows simple commands like sit, come and down. Twine gets along with other dogs on a social basis but would may do best in a home where she is the only dog. She loves attention from “her people” and doesn’t really want to share! SWEET SENIOR GRANDMA..... Our Grammie is a Pomeranian sweetie who has had a rough few years! She was a stray in a kill shelter and was rescued on her very last day. This girl was suffering with rotten teeth, fleas, a mammary infection, a foul smelling coat and very yeasty skin. Why would anyone let an animal suffer like that?

So far our Vet has put her on antibiotics, pulled all her teeth (she loves canned food), done blood work and is working on clearing up her skin. She will be spayed once she is feeling tip top again!

1/11/10: UPDATE: Precious is a fabulous dog. After all of her Vet care was done, she is just the prettiest, sweetest girl! How sad she had to suffer so long with the neglect. She would make a wonderful companion for ad adopter who wants a fairly calm dog who loves people and attention. Children would be fine as long as they respect her space and are over 8 years of age. She is working on crate training and doing well, not sure about house training. Also, we do not know how she is with cats.

PERFECTLY PRECIOUS...... Precious is a Lhasa Apso rescued from a shelter in horrid condition. She was horribly matted, smelly and was suffering with a bladder infection. She has been bathed and groomed and is being treated for her infection and is already acting like a 'new dog"!!

** FOSTER HOME NEEDED ** I AM A SURVIVOR !!! My name is "Red" and I am a Chi/Pom, at least I'm in my Foster Mom's opinion. A few months back a mean dog attacked me and I had to be rushed to the Vet. Today I am pretty much like my old self and can even jump up on Mom's bed sometimes! I wear a cool bell on my collar so everyone knows where I am at all times, that's kind of babyish but I like that people care.

LITTLE NIKI !!! Nikita was in rough shape when she came to us but is starting to look beautiful again. We do not know her breed, she is such a mix, possibly Aussie or Heeler mixed with Lab/Catahoula ?? Nikita was a "street wise" girl who was very shy and had parasites and heartworms. We got her all fixed up and now she is a sweet girl who loves giving and receiving affection.

"Niki" loves to play, loves fetch and is getting to really enjoy going for walks. She is very shy at first but warms up quickly and would make a very loyal, loving friend in her forever home.

She is crate trained but we are still working on house training, gets along well with her foster sisters and loves kids. This smart girl knows "sit", "stay" and lay down, and will not touch her food in her bowl until you tell her it's okay. She will need a forever home with a family who is calm and patient as she has had a tough start.

Nikita has recently had her teeth cleaned and one pulled and may need some minor dental work in the future. She is spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on vaccinations. Her adoption is $150.

LUCKY UPDATE 7/19/09: Lucky has been neutered, microchipped and is on a passive treatment for his heartworms with Heartgard to kill the micro filiaria. The adults should die off in about a year. Lucky has proven himself to be unreliable with most people except his foster. He is not adoptable to the average adopter but will need a very experienced home who can deal with his mecurial temperment. For now, Lucky is a "sanctuary" dog, meaning he can live at the doggie ranchette until he passes unless he becomes dangerous.

LUCKY CHARMER!!! Lucky is a Border Collie mix who was pulled from a kill shelter on his last day. He is a very nice boy who likes people and doesn't understand why he has been so let down by them. Lucky has come to us heartworm positive and with a seriously matted tail and back end. He will require grooming so he can become more comfortable and handsome!

Lucky is current on his vaccinations, is being treated for his heartworms, neutered and microchipped.

ADOPTION PENDING FOR ANNIE MAE !! This gorgeous red Heeler (aka Australian Cattle Dog) is new to our group. So far she is your typical ACD and we are looking for an adopter with experience with this breed. A fenced yard or acreage would make this "worker" a happy girl. ADOPTION PENDING FOR SWEET BROWNIE..... ..... is a big cuddle bear. He is already sleeping in a crate at night. He and his brother, Toby, love water but Brownie is like a fish. He likes to play with other dogs, wrestling and chasing. He is a friendly dog who is very friendly with people and other dogs and will make a great family pet. He is housetrained and crate trained.
